Meet The 2017 Cast

Dan Nassimbene

Dan has been involved in theater for several years and has been blessed with many wonderful roles. Portraying the character of Jesus in Risen 2016 was a life changing experience, and being given a chance to reprise the role in 2017 and bring life to the character of Jesus is a flattering opportunity.  Dan hopes to again be guided by the spirit and be able to touch the lives of both the religious and possibly ignite a spark in the hearts of those searching for something greater in this life.  

Starci Scheffler

​Starci is nineteen years old and number five of the ten Scheffler kids. She performed the part of The Narrator in last year's production of Risen and is delighted to be reprising the role in this year's show. Some previous theatre credits include: Peter Pan (Peter Pan), Fiddler on the Roof  (Russian), Wizard of Oz (u/s Scarecrow), Bad Chicks (Michelle), The Cinderella Ballet  (Autumn Fairy), The Nutcracker Ballet with Oklahoma City Ballet, Ballet Idaho and Kaleidescope Dance Project (Ensemble).
In her free time Starci loves dancing, singing, reading, writing, playing harp, and baking. She is currently enrolled in Auguste Escoffier's School of Culinary Arts where she studies Pastry Arts. She is looking forward to starting an internship at the Broadmoor this Spring. 
The Narrator

Hunter Adam

Hunter, 15, has been performing since the age of 7 when he debuted at Sunnyside Christian Church in Christmas Presents, Christmas Past and has performed in many since then. He has also enjoyed working with The Milibo Arts Theater performing in A Midsummer Night’s Dream and The Tempest. Hunter’s first love is the Colorado Springs Children’s Chorale, performing all over the U.S. and singing solos as the Cowardly Lion, and Gavroche, Les Miserable. This summer they are off to Australia. His latest adventure was acting in a short at The Grin Reaper Theatre. He’s the kid with a Rubix cube in his hands.  

Natalie Adam

Natalie is a director with Characters for Christ Drama Ministries at Sunnyside Christian Church. She has directed, produced and starred in productions at Sunnyside since 2008 including Word on the Street and A Christmas Tale. Prior to 2008 she did some drama work at Rampart High School and Woodmen Valley Church. A former high school science teacher, she now works from home as a programmer. Her daughter (13), and son (15) keep her running from dance, to swim, to parkour and to the Children’s Chorale. She is excited to be involved in an original production with this wonderful group.  

Mother of Jesus

Robert J. Armstrong

Robert is more than pleased to work again with Stephanie and the entire cast as she worked around his rehearsal conflicts and travels to allow him to reprises his role as Pontius Pilate. He is beginning his 20th year of working in local productions at the FAC, PPC, PPCC, Calvary Methodist Church, Sunrise Church, and now Meridian Point Church. He loves musicals as he performed on stage or back stage in over 50 productions. Robert sends a special Aloha to his favorite fan.

Adam Baart

This is my first official experience participating in any kind of production. I’m fairly quiet and a behind the scenes kind of person, so this has been a good growing experience. My job and a lot of my hobbies revolve around IT, although there was a time when I was very into playing basketball and I hope to one day take that up again. I’m a pizza-holic through and through. In my dreams, I drive a Pagani.

Liesl Baart

My name is Liesl and I like warm hugs! This is my second year doing Risen and I am excited to be a part of the show again! I love singing and acting and am excited to be a part of giving God all the glory through this production. Hope you enjoy the show!  

Rachel Bower 

Rachel Bower is a 15 year old freshman, and she goes to Falcon Homeschool Program. She enjoys reading, watching Netflix, and playing bass guitar. She has been involved in theater for sevenish years.

Mitch Calvert

This is Mitch's first time performing in Risen and he is very excited about this opportunity. Mitch has previously performed on stage for Sunrise Players. His most recent role was as Charlie Brown in Sunrise Players presentation of A Charlie Brown Christmas. Mitch has been involved, in varying capacities, with Sunrise Players productions for over 8 years. Mitch is a Scorpio and enjoys long walks on the beach while a warm tropical breeze gently caresses and soothes the senses, deep dark nights with star filled skies, and good conversations with just about anybody.  

Dave Cook

Dave was part of the Original Cast of Risen last year portraying John the Baptist/Nicodemus and is excited to be back again this year as Aaron the Priest!  He is very thankful to be a part of the greatest story ever told…Christ is Risen!!
Dave has recently started a Christian fly fishing group called TLC…Tight Lines for Christ.  Let him know if you are interested in participating, all are welcome. 

Remember:  It’s never too late to do something that pushes you out of your comfort zone so go for it you will be surprised at what you can do and the impact you may have on others!

Bobbie Deis


Nathan Deis

This is my second time being cast in the show Risen. This year I am playing Judas Iscariot. I really really enjoy this role and find it a challenge to play. Before I have starred in The Outsiders Canterville Ghost and several other shows. I would like to give a special thanks to Kevin Scheffler for always being the brother in Christ I need for the things I am going through. He is always there for me and motivates me through every show and day of my life.   


Bill Downer

Bill Downer is retired and lives in Falcon with his wife Judy and son Tyler. The family attends Meridian Point Church where Bill enjoys helping take care of the grounds. Bill also enjoys off-roading, fishing and camping. This is Bill's first experience in a stage production. 

Judy Downer

Judy Downer is retired and lives in Falcon with her husband Bill and son Tyler. Judy was Martha of Bethany in the 2016 production of RISEN and is excited to be part of the cast again this year. Judy enjoys skiing, listening to Christian music and helping wherever she can at Meridian Point Church.

Tyler Downer, 9, is a third grader at Woodmen Hills Elementary. This is Tyler's first experience on the stage and he is very excited to portray young Jesus. Tyler enjoys video games, science and magic. 

Liz Estrada

This is the second time I have had the privilege of being a part of Stephanie's awesome play and I am praying that, just as she envisioned, it will reach, teach and touch you-the audience-with the awareness of Jesus' life, purpose, and amazing unconditional love for all of us. Along with my wonderful husband, Phil, I have been in Christian Theater about 9 years now and totally enjoy it! I am originally from Missouri but have lived here for 48 years now. Phil calls us "honorary natives". LOL

Phillip Estrada

I am honored to be part of this 2nd production of RISEN and to share the gospel of Jesus and His story. Though I came to acting reluctantly some 9 years ago, I have discovered I thoroughly enjoy Christian Theater! My roles have spanned everything from crew, to an Egyptian guard, to singing Elvis, to a pharisee in "The Thorn", to the voice of God and more!
I am a native of California, but the draft brought me to Ft. Carson, a tour of Vietnam, and back to Ft. Carson and I have been here ever since-48 years! I am so proud to be born in the USA and may we always be ONE NATION UNDER GOD!

Kenna Fields

Kenna is 13 years old and loves all things Harry Potter and Alice in Wonderland. Her favorite actor is Johnny Depp. Her favorite singer is Selena Gomez. She was in Risen 2016 and plans on being In Risen 2018 with a bigger role. She is homeschooled and goes to school one day a week where she sees her best friend Izzy.  


Matt Hawkins

​Matt Hawkins is a homeschooled 6th grader who attends Rocky Mountain Classical Academy one day a week. "I like Hiking, Camping, Soccer, Snow Sports and Legos. I have been in four Christmas Plays at Meridian Point Church and two musicals at my school. I also enjoy playing the piano. I attend Meridian Point Church and have done so for about 6 years. I volunteer in the preschool with my mom and the church cafe' with my dad."     

Scott Hawkins

​Scott Hawkins is excited about being a part of this years production of ​RISEN.​
"I enjoy Basketball, Snow sports, Camping, Hiking, and Music. I attend Meridian Point Church and volunteer at Hebrews Cafe. I have been in two plays at Meridian Point. One during Easter six years ago, and last years production of RISEN. Thanks to Stephanie for allowing me to be a part of the play again this year." 

Brandon Johnson

Hi I'm Brandon. I'm part of the crowd and in some of the musical numbers. I love Jesus and reading Bible stories. Some of my favorite things to do are play outside and lifting weights. Playing with my brother is my most favorite thing to do.

Ryan Johnson

Hi I'm Ryan. I am going to be a crowd member. Some things I like are legos, music, my muscles, eating and dancing. I like being in plays and talking.
I love Jesus and I hate the devil. I enjoy reading the Bible and praying a lot. I'm glad all of you could make it to the play.


Alex Kapral

Alex returns for his second prodction of RISEN, this time as Andrew. He has also participated in Medieval and Civil War Reenactments. Alex is a homeschool graduate who also enjoys history, music, traveling, building model railroads and is interested in traditional/digital artwork. (And wrestling aligators)...

Lindsay Kelly

LINDSAY KELLY is a spunky 10 year old who has a passion for acting and being on stage. Lindsay is in 5th grade at Odyssey Elementary School. Lindsay has performed in Wizard of Oz, Fiddler on the Roof, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and Charlie Brown Christmas. Lindsay discovered her love for the stage while performing with her grandfather. She is excited for the opportunity to perform in Risen and loves all the new friends she has made. She would like to thank her parents, sister, family and friends for their support. Also a special thanks for Phil and Liz Estrada for being her extended grandparents  during this production!  

Alyson Landon

Alyson Landon, 9, is in 4th grade at Springs Ranch Elementary. Alyson is thrilled to be a part of the production Risen as a second year participant.
Alyson has a compassionate heart beyond her years. Alyson radiates independence, leadership, and a helpful nature.  Her nurturing soul provides love and encouragement to kids and adults.
Alyson enjoys creative art projects, playing basketball, going camping, riding her four-wheeler, and being a prideful Girl Scout. She has been performing on stage since 2011. Alyson has procured the roles of a chorus member, a historian, a jungle monkey, Santa’s elf, and a “Shakespearian” in her school’s musical performances. Alyson is looking forward to another amazing “Risen” experience this year.

Jonathan Landon

Jonathan Landon, 12, is in 6th grade at Horizon Middle School. Jonathan is the older brother to Alyson, who inspired him to join the Risen production this year. 
Jonathan enjoys playing basketball, enjoys drumming music, going camping, and spending time with his friends. Jonathan has a witty nature, which is a lot of fun for his family and friends. His younger sister, Alyson and his cousins too, enjoy his nurturing and playful personality. Jonathan has been involved in several school musical performances that provided him with experiences of being in front of a crowd. He was in the school choir for two years and recently joined the middle school band, as a percussionist. Being involved in “Risen” is a wonderful opportunity for Jonathan and he is very excited.

Tommy Long

This will be my second year participating in Risen.
I enjoy being with the other actors as we portray the greatest act of love ever known.  I do hope all enjoy and feel the passion of our Lord.   

Annelise Miller

​​Annelise has been involved in church performances for the past 4 years. She recently moved to Colorado from Hawaii. She loves all animals and marine life. She enjoys horseback riding, hiking, and swimming.

Lisa Miller

Lisa has a passion to see others live in the freedom and hope that Christ offers and feels privileged to participate in the Risen show. She enjoys exploring the outdoors: hiking, horseback riding, skiing, sailing, and snorkeling. She thrives on learning new things and spending time in conversation with friends and family...oh and she loves a good cup of coffee.  

Ben Morris

Ben is a second grader at Pike's Peak School of Expeditionary Learning. He enjoys playing videogames and flag football. This is Ben's first time performing in RISEN.

Kelsey Morris 

Kelsey is a junior at Falcon High School and is active in F.C.A. (Fellowship of Christian Athletes). She enjoys going to the movies and spending time with her friends.   

Geof Nassimbene 

Geof has been involved in several shows with Sunrise Players. He was cast as The Serpent in Risen 2016. He enjoys the challenges that characters such as this present and looks forward to reminding people about the constant danger evil presents in our lives and the subtle ways in which it works   


Ethan North 

Son of Alpheus
Ethan, 25, loves being outdoors camping, hunting and hiking with his beautiful wife and dog.  
He is originally from Georgia where he met his wife and went to college in Atlanta.  He has been in Colorado since 2016 and loves exploring the many outdoor adventures.   

Kenny Rendon

This is my first time ever performing in Risen and I am very excited about the opportunity to perform with my fellow believers in such an endeavor.  I am married and we have three wonderful children and one newborn grandson.  My hobbies include riding our horses, hunting and fishing with my family and friends.  I am retired from the Air Force but I work at the Air Force Academy as an Aviation Manager for the Wings of Blue Air Force Parachute Team. Chinese and Thai food are my favorite!

Hi! I am Adam Scheffler. I am Homeschooled. I am 9 years old. I like to play Legos and I like to Scooter. I am in 3rd Grade. I like writing in school. My favorite food is hot dogs. 

Alea Scheffler

​​Alea is homeschooled and in the 10th grade. She is kid #7 of 10 in the Scheffler family and really enjoys performing with them. Alea loves to dance and does numerous styles including: Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Broadway Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, and Ballroom. She also loves playing the piano, reading, choreographing, and coaching gymnastics, as well as baking cookies with her little brother Adam. She has performed in the Ballets Alice in Wonderland, The Nutcracker and Cinderella with ‘Kaleidoscope Dance Project’. She also danced in The Nutcracker with ‘Ballet Idaho’ and ‘Oklahoma City Ballet’. Alea choreographed and performed in Fiddler on the Roof, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Peter Pan with ‘Sunrise Players’. She has also been in Irving Berlin’s: White Christmas, Jesus Christ Superstar, The Wizard of Oz, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, and A Lamb’s Tale. She is overjoyed to once again be a part of Risen, having been involved in last year’s production, and is thrilled to share the show with all of you.   

Christopher Scheffler

Christopher is as passionate for theatre as his family is. He has taken Ballroom and Musical Theatre classes at Turning Pointe Dance for 4 years. His acting aspirations have led to his performance with Sunrise Players in White Christmas, Jesus Christ Superstar, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. He has also appeared in The Nutcracker at the Pikes Peak Center and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at CIVA High School. He makes his living by stocking goods and groceries at the Falcon Walmart. This will be his second year in Risen: Death Where Is Your Sting?  

Faith Scheffler

Faith is number nine out of ten Scheffler kids. She is home schooled and in the 7th grade. Faith has been dancing Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Irish, Musical Theatre and Worship since she was five. She's performed in various Nutcracker Ballets and Christmas pageants. She has been playing the piano since 2010. Faith's debut performance on stage was with Sunrise Players when she was cast in Jesus Christ Superstar.  Since then she has been hooked on performing. She was also cast in Sunrise Players production of Wizard of Oz and Fiddler on the Roof, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Peter Pan… Faith's has also performed  with Kalidescope Dance Project in Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat. Faith played the role of Elizabeth in the 2016 Easter production, Risen!  

Isaac Scheffler

Isaac was in last year's production of RISEN as Andrew. He enjoys woodworking, archery, building Legos, working on models, and making dioramas.
He likes pizza, mountain dew, swords, and medieval and military stuff. He is also a huge ancient Roman military Enthusiast.  

Kevin Scheffler

This is Kevin's 2nd time performing in RISEN, having Played Adam and Judas in last year’s show. He is very excited and honored to play the part of Peter in this year’s production. Other Theater credits include, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (Grandpa), Fiddler on the Roof (Bottle Dancer), and The Wizard of Oz (Scarecrow). He was also in Cinderella the Ballet (Prince Charming), and The Nutcracker, Both with the Colorado Springs Philharmonic (Grandpa), and Kaleidoscope Dance (Drosselmeyer). Kevin also enjoys Woodworking as well as Programming and Operating Lights at church.

Samuel Scheffler

Son of Zebedee
Samuel is the eighth out of the ten Scheffler kids. He is home schooled and in 8th grade. Samuel made his debut performance on stage with Sunrise Players in Chitty, Chitty, Bang, Bang.  He also be made his debut performance in The Nutcracker Thanksgiving weekend 2015 at The Pikes Peak Center in Colorado Springs. Samuel has performed in various Christmas pageants. Samuel also performed in Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat with Kalidescope Dance Project. When he is not busy at school (or rehearsals) he is a master with building and designing Lego creations. Samuel portrayed the part of John in the 2016 Easter production ,Risen!  

Steven Scheffler

This is Steven’s first year performing in RISEN. A big fan of musicals, he has traveled with members of his family to Broadway in NYC and London’s West End to see various performances. In his free time he enjoys skiing, writing music, and traveling. A big shout out to all those who are helping make this possible and to God be the Glory.  

Abby Schramm

Abby is a gymnast, has placed in state and enjoys playing the violin. She has done drama for 6 years and had a lead roll at a young age. She loves choreographing routines and has so much fun being herself. Despite all the things that comes her way she still trusts that the Lord is always with her and will guide her through the crazy adventure of life.  

Hannah Schramm

Hannah is a singer/songwriter. At the age of 17, she loves writing and playing her own music. She has a YouTube channel and likes to play at open mic coffeehouses. She also enjoys anything that has to do with the arts. Most of all, she wants to use the poems (that are inspired by God) she writes to spread the love of God, His words, and the compassion Jesus showed with as many people as she can.

Carl Spray

This is Carl’s second attempt at performing on stage.  His first was as a Villager in the 2015 Sunrise Players’ production of Fiddler on the Roof.  Carl has performed with several choirs in the Colorado Springs community since first joining the Soli Deo Gloria Choir in 1994.  The other choirs being the Sunrise United Methodist Church Choir, Colorado Springs Song Spinners, Heart Song Church Choir, and the Roman Catholic Chamber Choir, and ensemble groups at the two churches.  As a youth, Carl took piano lessons, and later played the clarinet and tuba.  He also sang in the choir in high school and college.  Other interests are travel, rugby, baseball, volcanoes (from living in Hawai’i) and studied history and political science in college.  Besides Colorado, he has lived in California, Texas, Puerto Rico, Tennessee, Ohio, and Hawai’i.  Carl enjoyed the production of Risen in 2016 and feels honored to be included in this year’s production.  

Chris Stephan

I am Chris David Stephan. I am 13 years old and in the 7th grade. My birthday is on October 14th. I have a Godly family. I have two brothers and two sisters. I live in a nice house and a friendly neighborhood. I like to play LEGOs and video games. When I grow up I would like to be a LEGO Technologist and a Worship Minister. 

Lynn Stone

Lynn Stone has performed in a number of productions, including "Hot Mikado", "Seussical", "Oklahoma",  "My Fair Lady", "Children of Eden", "Moses-A Prince of Egypt" and "Summer Shenanigans - 2012, 2013, 2014", "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat", "White Christmas", "Jesus Christ Super-Star", "Wizard of Oz", "Fiddler On the Roof", " Chitty Chitty Bang Bang", "Peter Pan", and "Risen 2016".

Jackson Swift

Jackson will be 14 this month and is excited to be performing in this show with his dad (Jeff) and best friend (Samuel). Jackson is home schooled as an eighth grader, where he spends most of his time playing guitar. He has been going to MPC for a decade, and used to play Upwards Basketball. His hobbies include drawing, playing guitar, and playing video games. When not at home, Jackson can often be found at the Scheffler's house where he is just like one of the family!   


Jeff Swift

Jeff Swift, the big Roman soldier, prefers to handle things behind the scenes, but he is glad to be spreading God’s message in RISEN.  This is his second year participating in Risen, and his second time to ever acting on stage, as you might recognize on your own. 
When Jeff isn’t playing a Roman soldier, he is a software engineer and avid shade-tree mechanic. 
Jeff has been a part of the Meridian Point Church congregation for over 10 years and enjoys serving in the MPC worship department, running the soundboard a couple times a month.  He looks forward to continuing to serve in this new capacity, and spreading the Good News on the stage.

Jesus Christ

​Jesus was born in a manger over two thousand years ago to a young couple named Mary and Joseph.
A Carpenter by trade, Jesus is a hard worker and an excellent craftsman . At the age of 30 Jesus left the family carpentry business and started a revolutionary movement in Ancient Judea, preaching a gospel of love and peace to all who would hear His message. His messages are often accompanied by astounding displays of healing for the sick and lame.

Jesus spends most of His time travelling with His ministry but can always be found at your side when you need Him. When He isn't preaching or healing, Jesus can be found hanging out with His 12 closest friends.
Some of Jesus' favorite pastimes include: walking on water, fishing for men, telling stories and casting out demons. Though His favorite activity is spending quality time with His Father in prayer.    


Deb Kirkendall 

Deb Kirkendall has demonstrated her dedication to vocal music instruction in Colorado Springs and beyond, having taught music at every grade level, an adult community choir, and church choirs, both adult and children's during her 36 year career. She has a bachelor's degree from Kansas State University, and masters degrees from Colorado College in Music Education. Recently retired from public school education, Deb continues to serve musicians of all ages in offering private voice and piano lessons, as well as ocassionally teaching adult classes. 
Her vocal passion is further revealed as an Assistant Director and Tenor Section Leader in the Champion Velvet Hills Chorus of Sweet Adelines International. Singing and instructing four-part acapella harmony for over 30 years. Her on-stage experience includes award winning performances in several prestigious International Sweet Adeline Competitions plus singing tenor in a multitude of quartet regional competitions. Deb is honored to be the vocal coach for the 2017 Production of RISEN.

Stephanie has enjoyed being a part of numerous dance and theatre groups over the years. Since moving to Colorado in 2004 she has performed in productions with First Company, Sunrise Players, and Characters for Christ along with a few independent church productions and numerous dance shows. Some favorite credits include: The Junk Man and Bamboo Dancer in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Stepmother in Cinderella, A Muzzy Boy and Ensemble in Thoroughly Modern Millie, a Superstar Angel in Jesus Christ Superstar and Charmaine in The Inventor’s Daughter. Normally on the stage Stephanie is taking a backstage role this time to Direct Risen: Death Where is Your Sting? This project has been one crazy spiritual ride and she hopes you all enjoy the production that is so near and dear to her heart.
